尚博尔城堡也称香堡 [1] ，坐落在法国卢瓦尔河左岸5千米外的科松镇，坐落于尚博尔国家领地（Domaine National de Chambord）内，领地占地5440公顷。这里最初是布鲁瓦伯爵的狩猎场，后被弗朗索瓦一世看中，于1519年在此修建了尚博尔城堡。弗朗索瓦一世是一个英明有作为的君主，受到当时文艺复兴的影响，他在迷恋上龙巴托式建筑风格之后，决定在这个自己及许多贵族都喜欢的地方修建城堡。城堡的设计者至今是一个迷，据传弗朗索瓦一世专门把著名画家达芬奇请到法国宫廷，设计了城堡草图，但目前并没有确凿证据。无论如何，可以肯定的是尚博尔城堡的风格明显受到了达芬奇的影响和启发。15年后，城堡的主体建成时，弗朗索瓦一世去世了，而工程到150年后的路易十四时期才全部完成。
