    作为关中八景之一的大雁塔高高耸立在西安市南郊慈恩寺内,市中心约4公里,是我国的佛教名塔之一。

    大雁塔前身是著名的慈恩寺。

    慈恩寺初名无漏寺,到了唐贞观二十二年(公元648年)高宗李治做太子时,为追念死去的母亲长孙皇后的恩德,下令在长安晋昌坊建造寺院,敕赐“慈恩”。

    它北面正对大明宫含元殿,占地26570*方米,周边风景优美,为唐都长安最宏伟、最壮观之佛教寺院。

      走进寺院我们可以看到两座小楼,东边是钟楼,里边悬挂有明代嘉庆年间铸造的一口铁钟,重3万斤,钟上的花纹、图案、文字都清晰可见,钟身正面刻有“雁塔晨钟”字样。长久以来,人们都把“雁塔晨钟’作为关中八景之一。西边是鼓楼,楼里存有一面大鼓。钟和鼓均为寺院的大型法器,在这里基本上是用来报时的,僧人们每天闻钟而起,闻鼓而眠。

      继续往前走,我们看到的是整个寺院的中心建筑,称之为大雄宝殿,“大雄”是对释迦的尊称,里面供奉的是释迦的三身佛,我们首先看到中间的这尊称为法身佛毗卢遮那佛,意思是佛性清净之身,在左边是报身佛卢舍那佛,意思是佛果圆满之身,右边有应身佛释迦佛,是指一切可变换之身,佛像两侧是佛的弟子,东有迦叶,西有阿难。两旁还有文殊菩萨和普贤菩萨塑像。

      在大雄宝殿西侧墙壁上镶有几通《雁塔题名记》碑,“雁塔题名”始于唐代,是唐代非常盛行的一种风俗活动,就是说只要考上新科进士的人,他们都要来到雁塔进行题名,他们觉得能够在雁塔下题名是一件非常荣耀的事,并觉得登上大雁塔从此就步步高升,直入青云,唐代诗人白居易在考中进士后就赋诗道:“慈恩塔下题名处,十七人中最少年”说明他当时少年得志的喜悦之情。

      【法堂—大雁塔得名—大雁塔建造及文物—玄奘三藏院】

      我们接下来参观法堂,法堂一般是佛教徒讲经说法在曲江旅游区,我们还可以参观的地方,就相当于我们现在的课堂,在法堂里供奉着主管西方极乐世界的阿弥陀佛,在法堂的东壁上悬挂着三幅拓片,中间的一张为“玄奘负笈图”,描述玄奘背负经卷,前挂路灯,脚蹬麻鞋风尘仆仆的行走在取经的路上,两边拓片画的是玄奘的两大弟子圆测和窥基,圆测是新罗国的王孙,窥基是唐初名将尉迟恭的侄子,两位名门之后均拜玄奘为师,可见玄奘在当时的名声之大地位之高。

      法堂的后面我们就可以看到大雁塔了。在这里先给大家介绍一下大雁塔之名的由来,一说是西域称佛塔为“亘娑”,唐言为“雁”,故雁塔之名是由梵文音译过来的,另一说是出自于《大唐西域记》所载,佛教在早期分大乘与小乘两派,大乘佛教戒食肉,小乘不戒。在摩揭陀国有一座寺院,寺院的和尚信奉小乘佛教,有一天中午将过,众僧饥肠辘辘,午饭尚未有着落,甚为埋怨,有一个和尚看见空中一群大雁飞过,随口出戏言:我等诸僧多日没有吃肉了,若菩萨有灵,应知我们的困境啊!话音刚落,就看见领头的寺院的和尚却买不到肉下饭。

      这时天空中一群大雁飞过,一个和尚望着雁群自言自语:“今日僧房无肉吃,大慈大悲的菩萨一定不会忘记这是什么日子。”话音未落,领头的大雁折翅坠地而亡。众僧人大惊,明白是如来设法教育他们,众僧急忙跪拜,并将那只雁葬于院中。上建一塔,取名雁塔,从此改信大乘,不在食肉,这就是雁塔名称的得来。“雁塔”一词前加一个“大”字,一是因塔的建筑宏伟壮丽;二是因为后建的荐福寺塔也随着称为雁塔,为了区别,遂分别称为大雁塔、小雁塔。

      另一说:大雁塔建于唐高宗永徽三年,因坐落在慈恩寺内,故又名慈恩寺塔。慈恩寺是唐贞观二十二年(648)太子李治为了追念他的母亲文德皇后而建。大雁塔初建时只有五层。武则天时重修,后来又经过多次修葺。现在的塔是七层,共64米,呈方形角锥状。塔身为青砖砌成,各层壁面作柱枋、栏额等仿木结构。每层四面都有券砌拱门。这种楼阁式砖塔,造型简洁,气势雄伟,是我国佛教建筑艺术的杰作。大雁塔底层南门两侧,镶嵌着唐代著名书法家褚遂良书写的两块石碑。一块是《大唐三藏圣教序》;另一块是唐高宗撰的《大唐三藏圣教序记》。碑侧蔓草花纹,图案优美,造型生动。这些都是研究唐代书法、绘画、雕刻艺术的重要文物。大慈恩寺是唐长安城内最著名、最宏丽的佛寺,它是唐代皇室敕令修建的。

      大家好!欢迎来到大慈恩寺参观。我是导游员何雅胜,很高兴认识大家。

      距离西安市市中心4公里的慈恩寺,是全国重点文物寺院。寺院内的大雁塔是国家最重要的文化遗产之一,也是西安市的标志性建筑。

      大慈恩寺始建于公元5*,初名为“无漏寺”。在公元648年唐高宗李治作太子时,因生母文德皇后早逝,为补报慈母大恩重修此寺,改名为“大慈恩寺”。唐朝时,寺院内共有1897间华丽的房屋,他是全长安城内最大也是最著名的皇家寺院。唐王朝灭亡后,大慈恩寺也渐渐毁坏。现存的寺院建筑大部分是明代重建的。

      这个门叫做山门。也叫做三解脱门,意思是从世俗的烦恼中解脱出来。

      大慈恩寺的建筑结构和每一个*传统式的庭院结构一样,所有的建筑都非常讲究对称。现在您看到的两座小楼为钟楼、鼓楼,里面悬挂着明代1548年铸造的一口大钟,重15吨,上边铸有“雁塔晨钟”4个苍劲大字。“雁塔晨钟”是观众八景之一。

      西面为鼓楼,楼里存有一面直径为2.13米的大姑,用于为僧众报时。

      大慈恩寺内现住有出家僧人50多位,每天清晨僧人们四点半敲钟起床,晚上九点击鼓睡觉。

      我们看到的砖木结构的建筑是“大雄宝殿”,他是佛教寺院内主要建筑。“大雄”是对佛的尊称,意思是佛有巨大的力量,对一切魔障都无所畏惧。大殿里面供奉着佛教创始人释迦牟尼的三尊镀金塑像,他们都是佛祖的化身。

      中间的这尊叫做法身佛,是指佛法以“法相”显示人间的化身。

      西侧的这尊叫做报身佛,是指佛修身正果后的化身。

      东侧的这尊叫做应神佛,是佛为普渡众生随机缘应变之身。

      三身佛的两侧是迦叶和阿难,他们是佛的两大弟子。殿堂的东西两侧是十八罗汉,他们是佛在世时常伴身边的18位弟子。

      每年都有成千上万的香客、游客来到慈恩寺烧香祈愿,保佑他们生活幸福、*安。大殿前的两棵树叫做“龙爪槐”,种植于1887年,距今已有100多年的历史了。雁塔题名

      在唐代,新考中的进士都要登大雁塔留诗题名,象征从此事业青云直上。现今,慈恩寺内大多数的雁塔题名碑都是明、清时期留下的。著名诗人白居易就有留下“慈恩塔下题名处,十七人中最少年”的佳句,表达他少年得志的喜悦心情。下面我们继续参观。

      法堂

      前方我们看到的二层建筑就是法堂和藏经楼。法堂,就是佛教徒讲经说法的地方,相当于我们现在的课堂。法堂供奉着阿弥陀佛,阿弥陀佛是西方极乐世界的教主。只要念佛人一心诵念“阿弥陀佛”,死猪就能被接引到西方“净土”极乐世界去。所以阿弥陀佛也被称为“接引佛”,殿内还陈列着“玄奘负笈图”和他两位高徒窥基和人园测的拓片。窥基是唐开国大将尉迟敬德的侄子,园测是新罗国的王子。这样我们也可以想象玄奘法师在当时的声望是多么的崇高。

      二层就是藏经楼,主要用于保存重要的佛经经典资料。玄奘法师当年历经艰险从佛国印度取回的657部佛经,都是珍贵的“贝叶经”。什么是贝叶经呢?古印度将梵文佛经文刻写在经过处理的贝多罗树叶上,因此成为贝叶经。正是因为玄奘取回的是梵文真经,所以他余生都用在翻译佛经上,17载西天取经,19载翻译佛经,直至圆寂。玄奘法师为了弘扬佛法贡献了他毕生精力。

      接下来我们参观的就是大雁塔了。

      大雁塔

      我们眼前的就是雄伟的大雁塔!

      大雁塔是一座仿木结构的楼阁式方锥形砖塔。磨砖对缝,造型雄伟,气势宏大,有显著的民族特色和时代风格,是我国佛教建筑艺术的杰作。

      唐永徽三年(652年),玄奘法师为了妥善安置他自印度带回的经像和舍利,奏请高宗允许,修建了大雁塔。玄奘法师亲自设计监督,亲自运土搬砖。塔初设计时,完全依照印度形式,高180尺,后来建成了高5层,砖表土心的实心塔。后因砖缝草木丛生,渐次颓废。后来在武则天长安年间(701~704年),改建为十层可攀登的塔。但此塔也在风雨中颓败,唐后期改建为七层砖塔。人们常说:“救人一命,胜造七级浮屠”,大概就是由此来吧。后经后唐、明清,多次改造维修,特别在明代万历年间又在塔的外表包砌了一层青砖,完全保持了原唐代塔体造型,形成大雁塔的现在面貌。现塔高64.7米,共七层,塔体呈方锥形,底层每边长25米,每层四面均有券门,塔内装有楼梯,可以登到大雁塔顶层,俯瞰四周秀丽景色,令人心旷神怡。

      大雁塔底层南门洞外两侧大的砖中镶嵌有两通被后世奉为书法瑰宝的石碑,西侧为《大唐三藏圣教序》碑,是唐太宗李世民为玄奘译经所撰写的序文。东侧为《述三藏圣教序记碑》,由太子李治(即后来的高宗)撰写的记文。

      他们都赞扬了玄奘法师对佛教所做出的贡献。这两通石碑的碑文由唐代著名的大书法家褚遂良书写。

      塔的第二层供有明代一尊阿弥陀佛铜像。

      第三层供奉着两颗珍贵的佛舍利,是印度玄奘寺住持赠送给大雁塔的珍贵礼物。

      第四层是“同州圣教序”碑和“集王圣教序”碑的拓片。现在这两通珍贵的唐碑都珍藏在西安市碑林博物馆。

      在第五层我们可以看到释迦如来足迹石。在佛国印度,对佛教十分虔诚,佛教徒对释迦牟尼非常敬仰,进而对佛足迹甚为敬重,足见如见佛,一样顶礼佛拜。

      塔内第六层,我们可以可以在四周看到很多著名诗人的诗作。那么我们就要讲一讲与雁塔有关的另一个文化盛举了,这就是“曲江流饮”和“雁塔诗会”。“曲江流饮常不断”,这也是长安八景之一。是说一些文人雅士常常会相约到曲江饮酒作乐,曲江,顾名思义,就是弯弯曲曲的水流了,诗人们把酒杯放在水面上让它自由地漂流,流到某人面前,他就要一饮而尽,然后赋诗一首。之后他们还要登上大雁塔,抒**怀。这里陈列的唐诗书法作品就是大雁塔建成一百周年之际,杜甫、岑参等五位诗人的一次诗会所赋诗作。

      我们登到塔的顶层,可以四周眺望一下古城西安的美丽风景。

      接下来我们要去参观的就是玄奘三藏院了。

      玄奘三藏院

      (玄奘三藏院前)我们现在在汉白玉照壁上看到的“法门领袖”4分大字,就是唐太宗在《大唐三藏圣教序》中对玄奘法师的高度赞扬。

      我们面对的这座气势宏伟的仿唐建筑群就是玄奘三藏院,中为“大遍觉堂”,两边分别是“光明堂”和“般若堂”。以刻铜、柚木雕刻和汉白玉雕刻的形式,通过巨幅壁画展现了玄奘一生从出生、出家、出国求法、游学佛国、曲女法会、荣归长安、翻译经文、直至圆寂、功德圆满往生弥勒净土境界的全部过程。

      (光明堂)光明堂主要讲述了从玄奘出生到曲女法会的故事,我们主要讲述这幅画面:玄奘法师历尽艰难险阻终于来到了佛国印度的最高佛教学府——那烂陀时。住持戒贤长老亲自接见了他。当他知道玄奘是从东土大唐来求学佛法时非常激动,让他的侄子给玄奘法师讲述了一个传奇的故事。戒贤长老已经100多岁了,他20年前患了风疾,只要遇风周身就如同火烧刀割般痛苦。3年前,病情加剧,戒贤长老觉得难以忍受,决定绝食自尽了此一生。就在当天晚上,他做梦梦见三位菩萨显灵,告诉他不能死,因为3年后会有一位东土大唐的高僧想他求法,要悔之不倦,认真传授给他佛法。梦醒后,风疾也奇迹般地痊愈了。戒贤长老问玄奘法师在路上走了几年,玄奘法师答3年。众僧都惊叹万分,觉得十分神奇。

      这幅画面就是展现了玄奘法师在佛国印度最辉煌的一个时刻——曲女城大会。这次隆重的法会,五印度十八国国王,以及各国的高增大的数千人都参加了。在辩经法会上,连续十八日都无人辩论过玄奘法师,取得了无可争议的胜利,成为了曲女城大会的论主。各国国王纷纷赠送宝物,玄奘一再辞谢,只是遵照印度传统的论胜规矩,乘坐象舆巡游。+6于是万众欢腾,善男信女们带着香花追随其后。可以说,玄奘的声望在印度达到了高峰。他是那烂陀寺著名的十大高增之一,可以享尽尊崇发和荣华富贵。但他为了弘扬佛法,毅然谢绝了各国国王的挽留,决定把真经带回大唐。

      (大遍觉堂)大遍觉堂内供奉着玄奘法师的顶骨舍利。“大遍觉”是皇帝赐给玄奘法师的尊号,意识是完全觉悟者,也就是认为玄奘已经达到菩萨的境界。

      关于玄奘灵骨也有一个复杂曲折的故事。唐高宗麟德元年(644年)玄奘法师于铜川“玉华宫”圆寂。尽管他留下遗言,希望丧事一切从简,但唐高宗和众僧仍是把厚葬于浐河之畔的白鹿原。之后,因为高宗在大明宫每每看到玄奘墓地,就会伤心落泪。于是在少陵塬又修建五层灵塔迁葬玄奘灵骨,这就是长安的“兴教寺”塔。之后唐末战乱,为了保护玄奘灵骨,二次迁移到户县“紫阁寺”。宋时,南京演化大师可政和尚又亲自背负玄奘顶骨到金陵“长干寺”。之后随着历史变迁,寺院荒废,玄奘遗骨不知所踪。直至1942年,日军因修防御工事,玄奘顶骨惊现南京。到现在全世界已有十几处寺院拥有玄奘灵骨。大遍觉堂的玄奘顶骨舍利就是由南京灵骨寺赠送的。玄奘顶骨回到大慈恩寺,安置在大遍觉堂,现在可谓是安得其所。

      玄奘青铜坐像后的汉白玉雕,描述的是弥勒说法图。玄奘一生追求的境界就是往生弥勒境界。我们想。玄奘现在一定就是身处听法菩萨中。西壁是《佛说弥勒上生经》变,东壁是《佛说弥勒下生经》变。

      (般若堂)接着光明堂的故事,般若堂就是讲述了玄奘荣归长安、翻译经书直至圆寂的故事。这幅画面就是玄奘在宰相房玄龄的陪同下来到东都洛阳拜见唐太宗李世民。玄奘法师受到了隆重的欢迎,高僧大德、文武百官都夹道相迎。

      这幅画面就是描绘了玄奘译经的场面和严谨。正是因为玄奘法师本人静通梵文,以及他高深的佛学造诣,才创造了辉煌的翻译成果。

      最后这幅画面就是描绘了了玄奘圆寂后,彩虹贯日,莲花朵朵,众飞天和弥勒来迎。我们想象玄奘圆寂后就是上升于大遍觉堂中所描绘的弥勒净土吧。

      各位游客,慈恩寺是皇家主持建造的寺院,具有其他寺院望尘莫及的显赫地位和宏大规模。这座寺院当年由13座庭院组成,面积达340亩,是现在寺院面积的7倍。其建筑富丽堂皇,装饰华丽富贵。慈恩寺现有面积32314*方米,约合48.5亩。

      我们先来看寺院山门前这对威武的石狮子。说来也怪,一般外域传入我国的东西,总是先传入实物,而后才有根据实物创作的艺术品。而狮子落户我国,却例外地先传人狮子石刻艺术品,而后才有真狮子的出现。大家知道狮子是在东汉年间由波斯引入我国的,石狮子则是与佛教同时在两汉之际已自印度传入我国。狮子有护法避邪的作用,佛教认为“佛为人中狮子”,所以佛台前常刻有狮子,称护法狮子。慈恩寺大门口,有4尊石狮对称地雄踞左右,里边靠*大门的两尊,不清楚雕造于何年何时。东侧是雄狮,在戏弄脚下绣球。西侧是雌狮,脚边有一对小狮,称为母子狮。看来这些狮子也按照人们的*惯,以男左女右的序列摆放了。靠外边的两尊狮子,东侧一尊是清乾隆五十年(公元1785年)雕造,西侧一尊是民国19年(公元1930年)雕造。这两对石狮高度在1.7米以上,每尊重量至少也在250公斤以上。奇怪的是这两尊八面威风石制实心的庞然大物,即使用手轻轻地拍打,也会发出似铜非钢的金属声,清脆悦耳,十分动听。各位游客,您能猜出这是什么原因吗?

      众所周知,一般寺庙都有大雄宝殿,慈恩寺也一样。它的大雄宝殿位于寺院中心高台上,初建于明天顺二年(公元1458年)至成化二年(公元1466年),清光绪十三年(公元1887年)曾予大修。大殿上面三座塑像是释迎牟尼三身像。中间的叫法身像,西边的叫报身像,东边的叫应身像。释迎牟尼为佛教始祖,原是古印度迎毗罗卫国的王子,生于公元前565年,死于公元前486年,大约与孔子同时代。三身佛东侧立有释迦牟尼的十大弟子之一迎叶;西侧立有其堂弟阿难,他待从释迦牟尼25年,也是十大弟子之一。两侧是十八罗汉和玄奘塑像。

      大雄宝殿后是藏经楼,存有《藏文大藏经》等重要经典。楼下是讲堂,为佛教徒讲经说法之处,供奉阿弥陀佛铜像一尊,高1米多。殿内珍藏玄奘亲手供奉的佛座一件,还有唐代青响石四大天王像座一块。此石为蓝田玉山所产青石,敲之锵锵有声,清脆悦耳。

      各位游客,大家一定看过*四大名著之一的《西游记》及据此改编的同名电视连续剧,那么《西游记》里的唐僧是否就是唐代这位著名和尚玄奘呢?玄奘法师俗姓陈,13岁在洛阳出家为增,勤奋好学,在国内各地访师问学后,决意到佛教发源地印度去探索佛教的精蕴。玄奘于唐贞观三年(公元629年)从长安出发,沿着丝绸之路,穿越上天飞鸟、下无走兽的戈壁沙漠,西行直至天竺,贞观十九年(公元645年)学成后返回长安,历时17年,行程5万公里,经100多个国家和地区,取回佛经657部,并在印度获得极高地位,备受尊崇。回国后,在唐皇室的支持下,他集中各地博学高僧,组成规模空前的佛经译物场,并亲自任译主。翻译的佛经无论从质量或数量上都远远超过前人,开创了我国翻译史上的新时期,共译著佛经75部1335卷,撰写了《大唐西域记》,受到各国学者的重视。应该说《西游记》是以唐代玄类西出取经为背景而写成的,但故事里的唐僧不全指玄奘,而是一个经过艺术化的文学作品里的人物。

      各位游客,大雁塔在建时高60米,5层,砖表土心,光盘梯。后塔心砖缝草木丛生,渐趋颓废。经武则天长安年间、唐玄宗天宝年间、后唐长兴年间几次改造,大雁塔比原先长高了4.5米,还加了两层。底层每边长25米,基座为方形,边长45米至48米,每层四面均有券门,塔内装有楼梯。塔底层门楣上均有精美的线刻佛像,尤其是西门楣的释迦牟尼佛说法图,上刻当时废殿建筑的写真图,传为唐代大画家阎立本的手笔,是研究后代佛教文化和建筑艺术的珍贵资料。塔南门东西两侧的砖龛内镶嵌有唐太宗李世民撰的《大唐三藏圣教序》碑和唐高宗李治撰的《大唐三藏圣教序记》碑。两碑都是唐代著名书法家褚遂良书写,为唐代碑刻中的精品,是受国家保护的珍贵书法原刻,是研究古代书法艺术的重要实物资料。完全可以这样说,这座仿木结构的楼阁式方形砖塔,造型简洁,气势雄伟,有显著的民族特色和时代风格,是我国佛教建筑中的杰作。

      在*的西北部,美丽的西安市是著名的十三朝古都。有标志性建筑物钟楼、明长城遗址、华清池等等。可最雄伟、最有盛名的还要数大雁塔。

      大雁塔自唐朝以来,由玄奘法师修建,用来存放经书的佛塔。它建在大慈恩寺内,从古至今,保存完好,现在供游人参观、游览,是我国著名的旅游景点,更是著名的古城西安的象征。西安市的市徽中央就印着大雁塔,由此可见,大雁塔是当之无愧的西安的标志。

      雁塔的由来神奇玄秘。相传,在印度摩伽陀国,一个寺庙内的和尚信奉小乘佛教,吃三净食(即雁、鹿、犊肉)。一天,空中飞来一群雁。有位和尚见到群雁,信口说:“今天大家都没有东西吃了,菩萨应该知道我们肚子饿呀!”话音未落,一只雁坠死在这位和尚面前,他惊喜交加,遍告寺内众僧,都认为这是如来佛在教化他们。于是就在雁落之处,以隆重的仪式葬雁建塔,并取名雁塔。玄奘便以这个典故,修建了大雁塔。

      大雁塔最早因财力不足,只是一座五层的建筑,后来因武则天信奉佛教,将它修建到了十层。可不幸的是,五代战乱又降至七层,才有今天的七层青砖塔。塔高64.5米,地面各有一个门洞,造型简洁、气势雄伟,是我国佛教建筑艺术中的不可多得的杰作。

      从远处望去,你会发现大雁塔略有倾斜,这可是有来头的。过去,西安有过数次的地震,将塔震得像一边微有倾斜,后来,塔下身部分为土质,地下水不均匀,使大雁塔加速了沉降倾斜,现在逐渐收回地下水,使大雁塔“改邪归正”。

      大雁塔是第一批全国重点保护文物,经过一次次整修,这个七层的青砖塔变得坚固结实,大雁塔在日后的文物保护、社会建设中,不减昔日古典的美丽,笼罩这一层迷人、神秘的面纱!吸引着世人探寻佛教文化和古代东方文明。

      大雁塔位于南郊大慈恩寺内,是全国著名的古代建筑,被视为古都西安的象征。相传是唐僧从印度(古天竺)取经回来后,专门从事译经和藏经之处。因仿印度雁塔样式的修建故名雁塔。由于后来又在长安荐福寺内修建了一座较小的雁塔,为了区别,人们就把慈恩寺塔叫大雁塔,荐福寺塔叫小雁塔,一直流传至今。大雁塔*面呈方形,建在一座方约45米,高约5米的台基上。塔七层,底层边长25米,由地面至塔顶高64米。塔身用砖砌成,磨砖对缝坚固异常。塔内有楼梯,可以盘旋而上。每层四面各有一个拱券门洞,可以凭栏远眺。长安风貌尽收眼底。塔的底层四面皆有石门,门桅上均有精美的线刻佛像,传为唐代大画家阎立本的手笔。塔南门两侧的砖龛内,嵌有唐初四大书法家之一的褚遂良所书的大唐三藏圣教序》和《述三藏圣教序记》两块石碑。唐末以后,寺院屡道兵火,殿宇焚毁,只有大雁塔巍然独存。

      另一说:大雁塔建于唐高宗永徽三年,因坐落在慈恩寺内,故又名慈恩寺塔。慈恩寺是唐贞观二十二年(648)太子李治为了追念他的母亲文德皇后而建。大雁塔初建时只有五层。武则天时重修,后来又经过多次修葺。现在的塔是七层,共64米,呈方形角锥状。塔身为青砖砌成,各层壁面作柱枋、栏额等仿木结构。每层四面都有券砌拱门。这种楼阁式砖塔,造型简洁,气势雄伟,是我国佛教建筑艺术的杰作。大雁塔底层南门两侧,镶嵌着唐代著名书法家褚遂良书写的两块石碑。一块是《大唐三藏圣教序》;另一块是唐高宗撰的《大唐三藏圣教序记》。碑侧蔓草花纹,图案优美,造型生动。这些都是研究唐代书法、绘画、雕刻艺术的重要文物。大慈恩寺是唐长安城内最著名、最宏丽的佛寺,它是唐代皇室敕令修建的。

      唐三藏——玄奘,曾在这里主持寺务,领管佛经译场,创立佛教宗派。寺内的大雁塔又是他亲自督造的。所以大慈恩寺在*佛教史上具有十分突出的地位,一直受到国内外的重视。

      寺门内,钟、鼓楼东西对峙。钟、鼓是寺院的号令,俗有"晨钟暮鼓"之说。东侧钟楼内悬吊明代铁钟一口,重三万斤,高三米多。唐代学子,考中进士后到慈恩塔下题名,谓之"雁塔题名",后沿袭成*。唐代画家吴道子、王维等曾为慈恩寺作过不少壁画,惜早已湮没。但在大雁塔下四门洞的石门楣、门框上,却保留着精美的唐代线刻画。西石门楣上的线刻殿堂图尤为珍贵。

      大雁塔东南侧,有和尚墓塔群。其中六座是清代建造的。大雄宝殿是寺院的中心建筑,殿内有三身佛、菩萨和罗汉泥塑像。是礼佛诵经之所。法堂是讲经说法的地方。堂内有阿弥陀佛铜像。

      今日的慈思寺是明代以来的规模,而寺内的殿堂则是清代末年的建筑。现在大雁塔经过修复,古塔雄伟,寺殿香火缭绕,庭院鲜花争艳,是一处特别吸引国内外游人的游览胜地。

    各位游客:

      中央矗立着一尊唐僧玄奘西天取经的高大铜像。只见他气宇轩昂,身披袈裟,手执锡杖,迈着坚定的步伐,好象正奔波在西行取经的路途上。身后就是他开创的慈恩祖庭,是他主持的译经道场大慈恩寺,以及他所修建的大雁塔。

      玄奘(602—664年),俗姓陈名祎,河南偃师人,自幼聪慧超群,勤奋好学。13岁被朝廷破格录取,在洛阳净土寺剃度为僧。玄奘先后周游全国十余省,遍访十余位高僧名贤,拜学经典,穷尽各家学说,誉满京师,被誉为“释门伟器和佛门千里驹。”在全国各地游学后,他回顾佛教传入*600年以来、佛经残缺不全,教义分歧,派别纷争的状况。玄奘在对佛经研*中,对佛经的质疑之处多达百余条。他决意到佛教发源地——天竺国,也就是现今的印度,去探求佛教的精蕴,以解众疑,弘扬佛法。公元627年他结伴上表奏请,申请赴印求法,未得到朝廷的批准。其他人纷纷退缩,而他不为所动,矢志不改,并且利用出国之前3年时间,从佛经研究、语言梵文及物质精神等方面作了充分准备。遂违禁出关,即违法偷渡出境,昼伏夜行,只身前往,开始了他西天取经的艰难历程和传奇故事。现在请大家继续参观。

      现在我们来到大慈恩寺,寺院的正门称为山门,也叫三门,分别称为空门、无作门、无相门,象征着佛教的三解脱之门。慈恩寺创建于隋开皇九年,初名“无漏寺”。公元648年,唐高宗李治作太子时,为其母以追荐冥福修建寺院,故得名“慈恩寺”。寺院虽系太子李治为其母追福而建,也表达了其父唐太宗怀念文德皇后的心愿。唐太宗和文德皇后从小结发,情深意长,13岁即“嫔于太宗”,当时太宗李世民才17岁。太宗即位时,立其为皇后。文德皇后为人贤良正直,顾全大局,严于律已,她为了大唐社稷,力避裙带之嫌,她坚持不愿自己兄弟子侄担任朝廷要职。而对于魏征、房玄龄等忠勇良臣,却全力保谏爱护。皇后的`申明大义,正直贤慧,成为大唐贞观盛世的良佐栋梁。在临终遗言时还强调“不可厚葬,俭薄送终”。如此贤淑开朗,确不愧为一位有胆识、有胸怀的女政治家。对文德皇后的去世,太宗十分悲恸,向*臣表白:“朕非不知天命而无益之悲,但入宫不复闻规谏之言,失一良佐,故不能忘怀耳!”所以大慈恩寺的创建,实际是唐太宗父子两代为文德皇后祈福之举,也是唐王朝对一代贤后的纪念。

      唐代大慈恩寺位于长安城南晋昌坊东半部,约398亩,总共1897间,僧众300,为长安规模宏伟之佛教寺院之一。在慈恩寺建成之初,朝廷特地迎请从印度取经回到长安、正在弘福寺译经的玄奘担任寺院的上座住持,大慈恩寺遂成为当时*佛教界的最高学府而辉煌一时。唐末以后因战事不断,寺院逐渐荒芜,经历代多次维修,至公元1446年,才奠定了今日寺院规模。

      现在寺院的范围东西阔160米左右,南北长318米左右,共计93亩,该寺院主要建筑,由南向北依次排列着山门、钟鼓楼、东西配殿、法堂藏经楼,大雁塔及玄奘三藏院。东西两侧分别为方丈院、僧院、寺管院、文管院等。

      我们大家走进山门,可以看到钟、鼓二楼对峙,东侧钟楼内悬挂有一口铁铸的“雁塔晨钟”。该钟铸造于公元1548年,钟上铸有“雁塔晨钟”4个苍劲的大字,这口雁塔晨钟自造成启用至今天,一直作为大慈恩寺行仪规范,是本寺佛教活动和众僧生活的组成部分。晨钟作为佛教大型法器,是召集众僧进行法事之用。寺院僧人们每天闻钟而起,闻鼓而眠。当拂晓时分,晨钟那洪亮的阵阵钟声划破晨曦朝霞,回绕在西安城南上空,共敲3阵,每阵36响,共鸣108响,表示断除尘世人生108种烦恼,祈祷盛世太*、万民安乐、五谷丰登。

      西侧鼓楼悬挂一面大鼓,寺院称为暮鼓,为横置座鼓形式,钟、鼓均为寺院大型法器。东西配殿原为东观音殿,现为客堂,西为地藏殿。

      现在我们来到大雄宝殿参观。高台上的大雄宝殿为寺院的中心建筑,大雄宝殿的匾额金光闪闪,系已故*佛教协会会长赵朴初先生所书。大殿前香火兴旺,大殿内供奉有佛祖三身佛像,中为法身佛毗卢遮那佛,西为法身佛卢舍那佛,东为应身佛释迦牟尼佛。佛像两侧是佛的弟子,东为迦叶,西为阿难,两旁还有普贤菩萨塑像和文殊菩萨像,均为明代雕塑,分别象征真理和智慧。另外东西两厢排列着包括玄奘在内的18尊罗汉像,此种排列是将佛的16位声闻尊者与其说者庆友、译者玄奘共列为18罗汉,为我国18罗汉较早的排列形式,以后还有其它排列形式。罗汉是小乘佛教修行的最高境界,指已消除一切烦恼进入涅槃,不再生死轮回,应受天人供养者。罗汉的三义即为:杀界,就是断绝贪、嗔、痴等一切烦恼;应供。应受外人供养;不生,永远进入涅槃,不再进入生死轮回。在大殿供奉的主尊背后塑有立于大海鳌头之上的南海观音菩萨像及众菩萨、龙女、木叉等150身人物,还有善财童子53参求法学道故事,生动有趣,生动展示出南海之中普陀洛伽山观音菩萨说法道场的蓬莱仙境。

      在大雄宝殿西侧墙壁上镶嵌着几通“雁塔题名记”碑,象这样的雁塔题名碑在我景区有几十通。“雁塔题名”始于唐代,指得是在长安考中的状元和进士,齐集大雁塔题名,以及武举在小雁塔题名的文化活动,明嘉靖十九年(1540年)陕西乡试题名碑文就有:“名题雁塔天地间第一流人第一等事也。”唐代诗人白居易在公元800年考中进士后赋诗道:“慈恩塔下题名处,十七人中最少年。”一时成为佳话。人称“寒酸孟夫子”的孟郊,在46岁才中进士,他赋诗曰:“昔日龌龊不足夸,今朝放荡思无涯。春风得意马蹄疾,一日看尽长安花。”他登科后“春风得意”的著名诗句,成为脍炙人口的美谈。

      在古都长安雁塔题名活动虽延续一千多年,而进士题名仅仅延续到唐末。因为自唐末以后各朝各代,长安城不再是国都京城,陕甘两省乡试举人仿效唐进士雅举在雁塔进行题名活动。在大慈恩寺院内和大雁塔上,至今尚存的明清两朝乡试举人题名碑有73通。另外在荐福寺小雁塔院内至今也保存有明清武举题名碑17通,也称“雁塔题名”。因为在大小雁塔仿效唐人题名于塔壁、颇具唐风遗韵,后来逐渐形成为文题大雁塔、武题小雁塔。这些都是研究我国科学制度的历史资料。

      大殿北面为两层高的法堂藏经楼,上层藏有玄奘曾翻译的经卷,下为法堂,供奉着一尊阿弥陀佛像,系明代铜铸鎏金佛像。法堂还陈列着玄奘供奉的佛座、玄奘负笈图及窥基、圆测碑拓画像等。圆测市新罗国王孙,由年出家来到*后,从学于玄奘门下;窥基是玄奘嫡传弟子,本是开国元勋尉迟恭的侄子,每当出门有三车厢随,故有“三车和尚”的绰号。由此可见玄奘在当时的名声与地位。

      现在,大家来到大雁塔脚下,大雁塔原称慈恩寺浮图。玄奘法师为了妥善保存从印度取经带回的大量佛经和佛舍利,于公元652年附图表上奏,经朝廷批准,在本寺西院,建造5层佛塔。每层皆存舍利,共一万余粒。玄奘法师亲自参加建塔劳动,搬运砖石,历时两年才建成。

      至于“雁塔”的名称由来,有数种说法。而玄奘自己编撰的《大唐西域记》中所述的佛教故事最为可信。据玄奘的《大唐西域记》记载,佛教在早期分大乘和小乘两宗,大乘戒食肉,小乘不戒。古印度摩揭陀国有一座王舍城,城外帝释山上有一寺院,寺院和尚信奉小乘教,一天,中午将过,众僧饥肠辘辘,午饭尚未着落,甚为埋怨。有一和尚忽见空中群雁飞过,随口出戏言:我等诸僧多日没有吃肉了,若菩萨有灵,应知我们的困境呀!话音刚落,即见头雁退着飞,到了这个僧人前便折断翅膀掉了下来,众僧人大惊,明白是如来设法教育他们,众僧急忙跪拜,并将那只雁葬于院中。上建一塔,取名雁塔,从此归信大乘,不再吃肉。这就是雁塔名称的由来。“雁塔”一词前加一“大”字,一是因塔的建筑宏伟壮丽,二是后建的荐福寺塔也随着称为雁塔,为了区别,遂分别称为大雁塔、小雁塔。玄奘在印度求法时,还专程前往参礼了这座有名的雁塔。

      As the symbol of the old-line Xian, Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. It is located in the southern suburb of Xian City, about 4 kilometers (2.49 miles) from the downtown of the city. Standing in the Da Cien Temple complex, it attracts numerous visitors for its fame in the Buddhist religion, its simple but appealing style of construction, and its new square in front of the temple. It is rated as a National Key Cultural Relic Preserve as well as an AAAA Tourist Attraction.

      This attraction can be divided into three parts: the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Da Cien Temple, and the North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda.

      Big Wild Goose PagodaOriginally built in 652 during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), it functioned to collect Buddhist materials that were taken from India by the hierarch Xuanzang.

      Xuanzang started off from Changan (the ancient Xian), along the Silk Road and through deserts, finally arriving in India, the cradle of Buddhism. Enduring 17 years and traversing 100 countries, he obtained Buddha figures, 657 kinds of sutras, and several Buddha relics. Having gotten the permission of Emperor Gaozong (628-683), Xuanzang, as the first abbot of Da Cien Temple, supervised the building of a pagoda inside it. With the support of royalty, he asked 50 hierarchs into the temple to translate Sanskrit in sutras into Chinese, totaling 1,335 volumes, which heralded a new era in the history of translation. Based on the journey to India, he also wrote a book entitled Pilgrimage to the West in the Tang Dynasty, to which scholars attached great importance.

      First built to a height of 60 meters (197 feet) with five stories, it is now 64.5 meters (211.6 feet) high with an additional two stories. It was said that after that addition came the saying-Saving a life exceeds building a seven-storied pagoda. Externally it looks like a square cone, simple but grand and it is a masterpiece of Buddhist construction. Built of brick, its structure is very firm. Inside the pagoda, stairs twist up so that visitors can climb and overlook the panorama of Xian City from the arch-shaped doors on four sides of each storey. On the walls are engraved fine statues of Buddha by the renowned artist Yan Liben of the Tang Dynasty. Steles by noted calligraphers also grace the pagoda.

      As for the reason why it is called Big Wild Goose Pagoda, there is a legend. According to ancient stories of Buddhists, there were two branches, for one of which eating meat was not a taboo. One day, they couldnt find meat to buy. Upon seeing a group of big wild geese flying by, a monk said to himself: Today we have no meat. I hope the merciful Bodhisattva will give us some. At that very moment, the leading wild goose broke its wings and fell to the ground. All the monks were startled and believed that Bodhisattva showed his spirit to order them to be more pious. They established a pagoda where the wild goose fell and stopped eating meat. Hence it got the name Big Wild Goose Pagoda.

      Da Cien Temple

      Da Cien Temple is the home of Big Wild Goose Pagoda. In 648, to commemorate the dead virtuous queen, royalty ordered the building of a temple named Cien (Mercy and Kindness), for which the status and scale far exceeded all others. Today, with an area of 32,314 square meters (38,648.5 square yards), one seventh of the original area, it still retains its grandeur.

      Before the temple, there stands a statue of hierarch Xuanzang, the meritorious hierarch. Walking on and across a small bridge, visitors will see the gates of the temple. With guarding lions, the temple seems stately for lions were said to function as talismans.

      Entering the temple you will see two buildings-Bell Tower in the east and Drum Tower in the west. Inside the Bell Tower hangs an iron bell 15 tons (14.76 gross tons) in weight. It was molded in 1548 in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Along the central axis are arranged the Hall of Mahavira, Sermon Hall, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and the Hall of Xuanzang Sanzang. In the Hall of Mahavira are three carved statues of Sakyamuni, and 18 arhats as well as Xuanzang. The Sermon Hall is where Buddhist disciples would listen to a sermon. A bronze statue of Amitabha is dedicated and a Buddha statue is collected by Xuanzang as oblation. The Hall of Xuanzang Sanzang is north of Big Wild Goose Pagoda. In this hall are Xuanzangs relic and a bronze statue of a seated Xuanzang. The inner wall is chiseled with murals depicting this hierarchs story. Renowned as the contemporary Dunhuang Buddhist storehouse praised by UNESCO, it is the biggest memorial of Xuanzang.

      North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda

      Surrounding Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the scenery is also quite charming, especially the square north of the Da Cien Temple. Covering about 110,000 square meters (131563 square yards) plus 20,000 square meters (23920.6 square yards) of water area, it holds many records: in Asia, it is the biggest Tang-culture square, the biggest fountain and waterscape square, and the largest-scale sculptures area. In the world, it has the most benches, the longest light-belt, and the largest-scale acoustic complex.

      The entire square is composed of waterscape fountains, a cultural square, gardens and tourist paths. There you can taste real Chinese culture and traditions and fully enjoy the truly attractive views. With reliefs on the theme of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, 200-meter-long (656-foot-long) sculpture groups, 8 groups of sculpted figures, 40 relievos on the land, and 22 styles of musical fountains, it has become a must-see when you visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
